Mainly, KIDS are the only ones who get high levels in MMORPGs, them and the rich and those on disability or something O.x
I doubt you'de ever see anyone with a job and HAPPY family life with a level 60 character on WoW. Of course all the high levels are kids, those are the only people who have time. So yah, U SUCK FOR HAVING A JOB! NUB

Its not about disagreeing or having a good discussion. Its about repeating the same things. Sometimes it seems like people feel they have to repeat their opion countlessly everytime someone else drops something they don't agree with. Its like they think Anet is making statistics on how many times players agree of dissagree on a subject and than take a democratic decission. But thats not how it works. Anet tries to satisfy as many players as possible. Its not a matter of 10 vs 3 so 10 wins. Its rather like "how can we keep those 3 interested?"

Hi, Guild Powder
I hope you understand that Guildwars is built on fair play to be competitive.
I'll try to set an example for easier understanding.
Lets look at 100m running for example.
Who do you think earns real respect?
#1 -A person who is age of 20, runs with 7 years old boy and wins.
#2 -A person who is age of 20, runs with a person who has same age and earns victory.
I think person #2 deserves real respect...because he/she earned it competitively with fair match.
In this example, anyone can age...but not everyone can acquire necessary skills to perform a job efficiently than other "competitor".
Hope it helps ^^ and wish you good luck

Ironic you should mention that in a topic posted by Guild Powder, of which there is already another.
One of these topics is just an echo of the other by the exact same person.
(And yes, I meant to sound redundant for emphasis. >.>)

People that say this game isnt for you can kiss my ass. You dont know what game isnt for me. I played it, I like it. But it gets boring, its a natural thing thats bound to happen. But it shouldnt happen this fast.
And I'd hardly call this game skill. Everybody has an equal chance, therefore its not skill, its luck. Because if each team has that equal chance where the only way to win is by getting lucky or raping the shit out of the other guys by spiking, it gets boring.

Its not fair. The lvl cap should be like 60. The game can still be about balance, I mean, even now its really not. You dont see many teams with all lvl 20's and a lvl 16.
So what would the difference be if it were all lvl 60's? This isnt a real MMO if you cant have a dominance factor.
|
I don't usually insult people and I'm sorely tempted right now....
First of all, mostly only kids with a lot of free time will be the only ones to reach these high level caps.
And you called leveling up as work. Sorry but I play my games to have fun. Not to do work.
It's not fair that everyone can be on equal footing when it comes to level? And you think that making level differences a major advantage is fair?
You're right there would be no difference if it were all level 60. So what's your point of raising the level cap? Other than frustrating people with grind and repetition?
You DO realize that there other ways to make a game fun right? And other ways to improve your PVPing skills. You dominate with your actual experience and skill not with some artificial in-game advantage. Otherwise, what's the point? You're the same type of people who use hacks to feel better about themselves to beat people.

How is having an equal chance luck? What? Obviously it's skill. Maybe if you won more often you would know that it was skill.
You need to be less narrowed minded. And learn to beat other people. How do you think guilds like iQ and Sissy Boys, Ward Against [Insert random slang] win so often? Is it all just luck? Horse shoes? Box of cereal with a leprecon on it?

I dont see youre argument here. Raising the lvl cap gives people the cahnce to play for a longer period of time without losing interest. Because believe it or not, hardcore players did buy this game. And it's not fair that hardcore gamers have nothing to do because they played this game more. The devs should have had something better than pvp to entertain people once they finished it.
Youre going to try and justify the fact that pvp is the only thing to do once youve completed the game? Thats lame as well, especially considering it loses interest quickly if you lose constantly.

Nizzim if the game is boring for you then it's obviously not the perfect game for you. Nonetheless, you still have the right to play it, we never said you didn't. What annoys us so much is that you all come and rant about how you don't like the game. Here's a thought: We really don't care what you like and what you don't like. Please stop thinking we do and that Anet should tailor the game to the minority who think that just because you have ten more hours to play per day than someone else that you deserve to win. Also, it makes you sound REEEEEEALLY intelligent and important saying "Kiss my ass if you don't think i like this game" because if you did like it you wouldn't be here ranting about every little thing you think is wrong with it.
Man this is a good day for me finally getting to let this out...

The game wasn't designed for hardcore players, it was designed for casual players.

You really don't get the point Nizzim. Raising the level cap does NOTHING to raise interest in people, except the few who are like you.
Raising the level cap does not make me want to do those same missions again. It does not make them more fun. It does not make new content. It doesnt make it fresh.
All it does is make you do the same things over and over longer. And suckers like you fall for it. Why not ask for more content instead? Or new stuff to do?
Uncreative minds and laziness are why high level caps are in so many MMOs these days. It's simply there to mask the fact that there isnt much to do other than to level up mindlessly for eternity.

I pointed out 2 things......not every little thing.
1. Pvp is tedious
2. Balance isnt always the best choice for fun
Personally I'll play the game for as long as I can, Im anxious to see how it unfolds and...maybe they will make changes. I payed $80, I'm not dropping an $80 dollar investment in two months. I dont have to pay monthly, the graphics are awesome, theres a nice community. It's great. All I'm saying is that theres no real goals to complete once you beat the game. I mean, you reach lvl cap in Kryta most likely, than you beat it.
And after all that work to reach lvl cap and get the skills you've earned, you go to pvp with kids that just bought the game and havent done step one to get there. THATS NOT BALANCED.
Keep PVE and PVP seperate.
And like it has been said, Anet could use constructive critism. Ideas to make something better are not neccessarily a negative thing.

Very well put Eet. GW WAS designed to be different from the same stick-in-the-mud online games that you see so much of these days...OH wait I forgot, FFXI and WoW ARE different! In WoW you get to grind a midget called a gnome rather than a midget called a Tarutaru to max level!

Everybody has access to the same resources, but that's where it ends.
Strategy and planning prior to a match determine what skills, armor, and weapons a person will have on. Are you saying everyone has the same strategy?
If I give identicle packages of Legos (Tm) to 20 children, will they all build the exact same thing?
And then, even if out of coincidence, everyone had the exact same builds, their execution of them differs per person significantly.
One IVEX Trapper compared to another makes a huge difference. Some prefer to hold-up the battle by visibly trapping a small area where the enemy can't avoid it in order to try and grasp and advantage at the start of the battle. Others trap cautiously in locations where the enemy is likely go to mid-battle, and unlikely to remember, to provide and advantage during the middle of the fight.
One Pyromancer tries to throw out AoE fires on the enemy monk, who's moving around and out of the AoE easily. Others will lay down the AoE on the warriors attempting to focus fire on a squishy target and then use their direct damage on the monk. (or look at all the allusions to FPS. The weapons are the same, but the skill of the person using them determines who wins. The players don't just fire off bullets randomly and hope to get a head shot...)
You fail to show an understanding of the combat system.
It is of my opinion that you liked Guild Wars solely because it was new, something different. But the moment that newness wore off, you wanted it to be just another game you used to play. The novelty of anything will wear off over time.
Getting bored of it that fast happens all of the time to different people for different things. If it's happened to you already, then it may be so that Guild Wars isn't for you.

Actually, I do agree with you a little bit there. It would help maybe to make an arena for level 20 pve characters to duke it out...But the problem there is you won't be able to change your build/secondary/main as easily. This would be repetitive and you and eveyrone else would just come back here whining about it.

No, adding more quests/missions does. All raising the level cap does is force people to play for longer periods. That's the difference. I doubt a single person on these boards would argue against more missions and quests, and indeed anet has added more since release - what they likely will not do is put in high powered items that are only obtainable by hardcore players, it would unbalance PvP too much. Instead, they are more likely to offer 'unique' show off items that don't unbalance but give those that feel they need it bragging rights.
Levelling isn't hardcore, it a lame MMORPG aspect designed to keep people paying monthly subs. I wouldn't get more health and energy in real life from killing stuff, nor would I improve my swordsmanship by swinging a sword around without tuition. But then thats just my opinion, having come from a levelless game like Eve Online....
